2. Use the new WeldShield ® connection insert system: a patent pending technology that permits welding plain end line pipe which has been internally lined with the GRE lining system without causing heat damage to the liner components and permits standard operations such as pigging.

HOW DOES THE WELDSHIELD® WORK?

Prior to welding the pipe, which was internally lined at a DUOLINE ® facility, the WeldShield ® insert is placed inside the connection area. Typical welding procedures and materials are then used to weld the pipe without causing heat damage to the lining components. This same basic concept and material composition of the WeldShield ® has been used extensively with DUOLINE ® in a variety of conditions throughout the world.
